Three dimensional heat transfer and flow characteristics in a set of rectangular microchannels are numerically investigated. A finite volume solver is employed to predict thetemperature field for the conjugate heat transfer problem in both the solid and liquidregions in the micro channels. The full Navier–Stokes approach is examined for this kindof narrow channels for the momentum evaluations, then the complete form of the energyequation with the dissipation terms is also linked to the momentum equations. Thecomputed thermal characteristics and pressure drop show good agreements with theexperimental data. The effects of flow rate and channel geometry on the heat dissipationcapability and pressure drop of the system are also predicted.
