This paper presents the results of laboratory loading tests on square footing models placed on geogrid reinforced sand beds the effects of variables such as the depth of first reinforcement layer the reinforcement vertical spacing the number of reinforcement layers stiffness and settlement of footing were considered in this study for the sand bed reinforced only with a single layer of geiogrid an optimum embedment depth was obtained in which the footing bearing capacity was the maximum value this optimum depth was found to be 0.25B B:THE footing model width. the optimum vertical spacing of reinforcement layers was found to be 0.35B. in addition the model tests showed that for the sand bed soil the bearing capacity goes up by increasing the number of reinforcement layers up to three layer.<\div>
