The aneurysm is a complex phenomenon which is affected by different factors, such as biological diseases, physical situations, and blood flow parameters. The apex of basilar is a prevalent location for aneurysm growth, which is exposed to the normal impact of blood flow. The velocity and pressure are two parameters of flow field which determine the effects of flow. Control of these parameters by diverting the vector of flow can lead to control the damaging effects.In this study, a combination of stent and cap is used to reduce the normal force of flow filed on the aneurysm sac in the apex of basilar. The size and location of cap are investigated in a clean configuration of the basilar using numerical simulations. The simulations are conducted using commercial CFD solver Fluent. The obtained results show that the cap can reduce considerably amount of flow stress on the aneurysm sac, and as a result the risk of aneurysm rupture is decreased.
