۱Studying Effects of Pipe Line flow rate on metering systems in Kharg Island Oil Terminal

Accurate crude oil measurement at the metering station is one of main aims in oil terminal. The main objective is to decrease or remove any error at the metering station. It is found that crude oil temperature at metering station has big effects on measured volume and may cause big uncertainty at the metering point. The main flow as travel through the pipe line pick up the solar radiation and heat up. This causes the crude oil temperature at the metering point to rise and higher uncertainty to be created. The amount of temperature rise is depended on main pipeline flowrate. In Kharg Island, there is about 3 km distance between crude oil storage tanks and metering point. The crude oil flows through the pipe line due to gravity effects as storage tanks are located 60m higher in height comparing to the metering point. The amount of the flow rate could be controlled by the appropriate valves. In this study, based on climate and geographical conditions of the Kharg Island, the temperature at the metering point has been calculated and the effect of main pipe line flow rate has been investigated. Further, the uncertainty in measured system due to temperature rise has been studied.<\div>

۲Effect of seals on evaporation loss from the Khark Island crude oil storage tanks

Evaporation loss is common in all branches of the petroleum industries. Studying evaporation loss is important especially for companies which store organic liquid. Storing organic liquid in tanks for long time lead to evaporating liquid and subsequently is lost to the atmosphere. This loss reduces organic liquid quality and causes atmospheric pollutant. Crude oil is one of the primary organic materials which widely being used in world. Therefore, crude oil evaporation loss is an important issue which should be carefully investigated and effects of various parameters bestudied.In this paper, the effect of seal type on the evaporation loss has been investigated and determined. Further evaporate loss from rim seals for the Khark Island storage tanks are compared. Nine types of the primary\secondary seal configurations have been studied. To be able to determine the loss, the API AP–42 standard has been employed as a main tool. The standard needs careful evaluating atmospheric conditions including wind speed and especially solar radiations. For this reason, solar radiation has been calculated in Khark Island. The climatic data for Khark Island has been taken from the Iran Weather Institute for 2006.The results unveiled that one type of the primary\secondary seal configuration has advantages over the other configurations in preventing evaporative loss.<\div>
