Ionic liquids (ILs) are liquid salts with poorly adjusted ions that having unique and promising properties, which received great interests recentlyas powerful green solvents. In this study, triethylammoniumchloroaluminate ([(Et)٣NH][AlCl٤]) and its two modified ionic liquids ([Et٣ NH][AlCl٤]–Cu٢+ and [Et٣NH][AlCl٤]–Ni٢+) are synthesized carefully and their different effects on enhanced oil recovery are investigated. During the experimental work, an Iranian heavy crude oil and outcrop samples from Sarvak and Asmari–Jahrom formations were utilized. Core plugs, andthin disks of the rock were prepared and aged in the crude to attainrestored state samples. The resulted wettability alterations, removing Asphaltene deposition from the rock surfaces and oil viscosity reduction as the IL is injected, were monitored carefully for each ionic liquid. Thepotential of the ILs for increasing oil recovery and in–situ upgrading ofheavy oil are also examined at reservoir condition by core flooding experiments. The results showed that over the recovery improvements, the IL decreases the viscosity and asphaltene content of crude oil andmakes rock surfaces more water–wet by reducing the contact angle.<\div>

Generation expansion planning (GEP) is the problem of finding the optimal strategy to plan the construction of new generation plants while satisfying technical and economicconstraints. In recent years, increasing concern for climate change has driven lots of countries all over the world to promoteenergy generation from renewable resources. Moreover, applying rigid environmental regulations by regulating authorities has been made generation companies (GENCOs) to consider emission as an important constraint in their generation expansion planning. In this circumstance, renewable energy sources (RES)can be pointed out as an appropriate alternative to fossil fuelfired units which have a remarkable share on releasing differentcontaminants especially CO2, as the major contributor to greenhouse effect, into the atmosphere. In this paper, to investigate the impact of RES penetration on the greenhouse gases mitigation, an integrated renewable–conventional GEP model including a suitably modified objective function andadditional constraints is presented. In order to encourage the GENCO in more investment on renewable resources, one of themost popular incentive–based support schemes, namely feed–intariff, is incorporated into the model. The resulting problem issolved by a novel heuristic technique namely, gravitationalsearch algorithm. Obtained results reveal that the penetration of RES is a critical option for emission reduction.<\div>

Free radicals are produced continuously in the cells as part of normal cellular function, however excess production might play a role in pathophysiology of many disease conditions, including cancer, Alzheimer's disease, atherosclerosis and some of the drug–induced toxicity. Many basic research studies and observational epidemiologic studies in human suggest that antioxidants can prevent oxidative damage. However, this is still a controversial issue because the results of clinical trials have been inconsistent. This article provides a brief overview of some of the diseases which are associated with free radicals, then discusses the roles of some of dietary antioxidant supplements in disease prevention, with particular reference to the findings of latest clinical trials.
