In this work, the effect of gas injection location on the operational hydrodynamic parameters such as liquid circulation velocity, circulation time and mixing time in two internal loop airlift reactor were investigated. The two reactors were structured in the way that gas was fed to inner tube in one of them, and to outer tube (annulus) in another. The cross sectional area of annulus to inner tube was 1.71. The tracer injection method and impulse response was used to determine the mixing parameters. The results showed when gas sparger was located in inner tube, liquid circulation time and mixing time were more than while gas sparger was located in annulus. The obtained results for liquid circulation velocity was vice–versa. This is due to more wall effects, more energy losses and pressure drop in the case of gas injection in inner tube.<\div>
