This paper proposes a new approach for expansion planning of Subtransmission System (SS). Distribution network (downward grid) is considered in the problem by modeling it as the load points, then Modified Mathematical Clustering Algorithm (MMCA) has been used for candidate selection of subtransmission substations. Finally Genetic Algorithm (GA) is employed to allocate the load points to the existing or candidate substations, and to find the best configuration of lines among the candidate ones. The proposed method is applied on a typical SS and the results are presented.<\div>

The main goal of Transmission Network Expansion Planning (TNEP) is determination of the number, time and location of new lines to be added to transmission network. Up to now, different methods have been used to solve the static TNEP (STNEP). In most of them, this problem is implemented regardless of power loss and the uncertainty in the load demand. With respect to the importance of these two parameters (loss and uncertainty) and their key role in an effective and precise planning, the evaluation and solution of STNEP using more efficient methods can be very useful. Hence, in this paper, a new method named Improved Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization (IDPSO) is employed for the solution of STNEP problem considering simultaneously the loss and uncertainty in load demand. Finally, the proposed approach is applied to the real transmission network of Azarbaijan Regional Electrical Company located in northwest of Iran. Comparison of the results obtained from the proposed method with those of Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization (DPSO) approach verifies the effectiveness and accuracy of the method in STNEP problem.<\div>

Deregulation has obtained new options in the design and planning of power system. One of these options is the integration of Distributed Generation (DG) into the power system. In this paper, the presence of distributed generation is regarded as another alternative for supplying the load of subtransmission system. The effects of DG on expansion planning of subtransmission system have been modeled as an optimization problem where the Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Linear Programming (LP) are employed to solve it. The proposed approach is applied to a typical subtransmission system and the results are evaluated.<\div>

In this paper a new method for coordinated design of PSS and STATCOM–based stabilizer has been proposed to improve the power system stability. Coordination between the proposed PSS and the controllers of STATCOM internal AC and DC voltages has been considered. The design problem has been formulated as an optimization problem where the particle swarm optimization algorithm has been used to solve it and find the optimal value of stabilizers parameters. The simulation results show the validity of the proposed method<\div>

In the last 20 years genetic algorithms (GAs) have been applied in a plethora of fields such as: control, system identification, robotics, planning and scheduling. In this paper a genetic algorithm based technique is proposed to address this problem. The MT (minimum time) is used as a criterion for trajectory generation, by using a real number genetic algorithm as an optimization tool. This paper addresses the planning of trajectories, meaning the development of an algorithm to find a continuous motion that takes the robotic manipulator from a given starting configuration to a desired end position in the workspace without colliding with any obstacle. Cubic spline functions are used for constructing joint trajectories for industrial robots. The motion of the robot is specified by a sequence of Cartesian knots, i.e. positions and orientations of the hand. For an N–joint robot, these Cartesian knots are transformed into N sets of joint displacements, with one set for each joint. Piecewise cubic polynomials are used to fit the sequence of joint displacements for each of the: N joints. Because of the use of the cubic spline function idea, there is only n – 2 equations to be solved for each joint, where n is the number of selected knots Cubic Splines are used in a framework that assures overall continuity of velocities and accelerations in the robot movement. An algorithm is developed to schedule the time intervals between each pair of adjacent knots such that the total traveling time is minimized subject to the physical constraints on joint velocities, accelerations, and jerk.<\div>

The porosity of Phillips Cr\silica catalysts plays a major role in determining the molecular weight (MW) and molecular weight distribution obtained during ethylene polymerization. Silica gels have different physical properties such as surface area, pore volume, radius of curvature, or average pore diameter. Theseproperties have important role on final production (PE) features. It could be noted, pore volume determines the fragility of the catalyst, which governs the degree of fragmentation during polymerization, and the fragment size. Many methods have been introduced to controlling porosity of silica gels such as using different solvents in the drying stage of hydrogel, dry silica gel pressing and compacting under varying pressures up to 70,000 psig and alkaline aging. In this study we investigated effect of solvent exchange on porosity<\div>

Tandem catalysis involving a highly selective, aluminoxane–activated N1–butyl–N2–(pyridin–2–ylmethyl)ethane–1,2–diamine.CrCl3 supported on SBA–15 catalyst 1 for the synthesis of 1–hexene in tandemphillips polymerization catalyst 2. Catalyst 2 was supported on SiO2. The tandem action was carried out atethylene pressure 23 bar, temperature of 90◦C and in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO) as a cocatalyst in n–hexane as solvent. The effect of Cr\Al molar ratio for Phillips and trimerization catalysts on the activity were examined. Analysis by means of DSC and 1H NMR suggests that copolymer of 1–hexene. DSC curve shows the decrease in the crystalinity of the structure which revealed the copolymer formation. 1H NMR analysis has shown that the synthesized polymer was branched<\div>
