Organic–inorganic functional hybrid materials play a major role in the development of advanced functional materials and recently have gained growing interest of worldwide community. In this context, new biocompatible hybrid organic–inorganic gel consisting of cellulose nanowhisker xanthate (CNWX) and S–H functionalized olypseudorotaxane as organic parts of hybrid material and gold nanorod as inorganic cross–linking agent were prepared. This gel designed based on high interaction tendency between Au and thiol groups. Firstly, α–CD–SH was threaded onto poly–(ethylene glycol) bis (mercaptoethanoate ester) to give polypseudorotaxane and then obtained polypseudorotaxane reacted with GNRs in the presence of CNW–CS2H to give the new product through the adsorption of hydrosulfide groups of α–CD–SH, CNW–CS2H and PEG–SH onto the surface of GNRs. Cellulose nanowhisker also prepared through acid hydrolysis process from cellulose linter. These new synthesized biopolymeric gel and its components were characterized by spectroscopic measurement methods such as IR spectroscopy, UV–vis spectroscopy, NMR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, etc. The new synthesized system has potential application to be used in different filed such as drug delivery, biomedical imaging, etc<\div>
