In this paper a Genetic Algorithm based optimization is used to determine switching angles and DC voltage for a cascaded multilevel inverter which minimizes THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) while maintaining required fundamental voltage component. This method can be applied to cascaded multilevel inverter with any number of levels. In this paper a multilevel inverter with 3 and 5 DC sources is considered and optimum switching angles and DC voltages are calculated to minimize THD.<\div>

This paper presents a new ANN–based expert system to classify voltage sags using measured threephase voltages. The results of the proposed system is compared to those of previously proposed works such as symmetrical component (SC), six–phase (6P), three–phase three–angle (TPTA) algorithms developed to identify voltage sags of types C and D. Numerical examples and recorded voltages are used to validate the expert system<\div>

In this paper, different operational regions of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbine (WT), from viewpoints of rotor speed, generated power, tip speed ratio (λ) and the angle of blades of the WT's rotor, is studied and classified. Then a new fast and explicit method of maximum power point tracking (mppt) will be proposed. The method is based on the difference between optimum and current rotational speed of the shaft of WT. The proposed method is compared with another method to unfold the superior one. This comparison will be done based on the speed of operation and quality of generated power and the results shows the priority of the proposed method.<\div>
