۱Effect of Thermal Oxidation on SCC Resistance of Ti– 4AI–2V in Chloride Environments

High corrosion resistance of titanium and its alloys is one of the important factors in materials selection and increasing their application in different industries, such as chemical reactors and marine industries. Ahhough this resistance is mainly due to the spontaneous formation of a thin, stable, protective and strongly adherent passive oxide fibn in the presence of water and oxygen, but the growth of this layer in some heat treatment operations in high temperatures could change its positive role to a negative parameter. Welded components of titanium alloys may be used in the fabricated conditions; or either after the stress relieving or solution annealing and air–cooling. The
stress relief is generally performed at 538°C and the solution annealing at 704°C. It was important to characterize the effect of the high temperature air formed oxide :fihn on the stress corrosion resistance of material in chloride–containjng solutions and to compare the results with the behavior of non–heat treated material In this research, the efficiency of thermal oxidation in temperatures between sooDe to 8000e on see resistance behavior of this alloy was studied by SSRT method in different NaCl concentrations and different strain rates. The results approved that
formation of this oxidized layer will increase the sensibility of this alloy to see in chloride environments in some conditions. sec resistance examination performed by SSRT method, and different macroscopic and microscopic investigations used for studying crack propagation. Results shows that the specimens without any thermal oxidation process didn't show any sensibility to see in chloride solution, but after thermal oxidation in temperatures higher than 6000e (when the color of surface changes to dark blue) mechanical property parameters such as UTS point, elongation and reduction of cross section area reduces to lower degrees. On the other hand SEM images show non–ductile fracture surmces near the surfB.ce of specimens. Compatibility of resuhs on the see crack growth mechanjsms
of titanium alloys in chloride solutions, especially attention to the role of ahmrinum and oxygen diffusion zone under the oxide surface, show that see crack nucleation surely occurs after the oxide Jayer breakdown.<\div>

۲Production of Nanoclay from a raw Montmorillonite sample

Nanoclay is one of the best fillers used for producing polymer Nanocomposites. It is produced from purified Montmorillonite which is usually found in nature with impurities such as Kaolinite, Illite, Quartz, Calcite, Cristobalite, Hematite and Feldspar. In industrial production, separation of these minerals from Montmorillonite is the first step of producing polymer Nanocomposites. Montmorillonite is purified utilizing its fine particle size compared with other impurities, for producing polymer nanocomposite its hydrophilic nature should be changed to hydrophobic by surface modification by hydrophobe molecules such as alkyl ammonium salts. In this paper a raw sample of Montmorillonite is prepared from the relevant Bentonite mine. It was purified and surface modified to produce a high quality Nanoclay for production polymer Nanocomposites. The results show satisfactory properties for produced Nanoclay in comparison with Cloisite samples.<\div>

۳Application of THDM Switching strategy on Line Voltage THD of Multilevel Inverters

Cascade Multilevel Inverter (CMI) is widely used in family of Multilevel inverters. THD Minimization (THDM) switching strategy is a well–known strategy which is applied to reduce amount of whole voltage harmonics. Two methods based on Approximate and Integrating methods have been proposed in literature to calculate line voltage THD of multilevel inverter with stepped waveform. In this paper, THDM strategy is applied to the both methods for a 5–level inverter with non–equal DC sources as a case study. It is shown that using both methods results in a same condition. Simulation results performed in MATLAB software are offered.<\div>

۴Prediction of the MMP by Using of Artificial Intelligence

An important factor in the design of gas injection projects is the minimum miscibility pressure (MMP). A new genetic algorithm (GA)–based correlation and two neural network models (one of them is trained by BP algorithm and another is trained by PSO algorithm) have been developed to estimate the CO2–oil MMP. The correlation and models use the following key input parameters: reservoir temperature, molecular weight of C5+, mole percentage of the volatiles and intermediate components (for the first time, the mole percentages are used as independent variables). Then results have been validated against experimental data and are finally compared with commonly used correlations reported in the literature;The results show that the neural network model trained by BP algorithm and the correlation that has been developed by GA can be applied effectively and afford high accuracy and dependability for MMP forecasting<\div>

۵Graphene as a potential bed for making carbon nanotubes and adsorption of biological molecules

An armchair (4,4) graphene sheet has rolled up to build single–walled carbon nanotube fragments (SWCNTFs) by computational quantum chemistry methods. Noncovalent π–π stacking interactions of the benzene molecule with the central rings of SWCNTFs have been investigated. The binding energies of the π–π stacked benzene–SWCNTF complexes versus R (true strain parameter) were considered. Structural parameters, effects of aromaticity, and charge transfer (CT) on the binding energies of all complexes have been gauged. Results indicate that partially localization of the π electron clouds of SWCNTFs enhances strength of the π–π stacking interactions and these materials have important role in biomedical applications such as in cancer therapy.<\div>
