۱Photocatalytic Activities of Anatase Nanoparticles Thin Film Coatings

Anatase sol was synthesized by hydrolysis and condensation of titanium–n–butoxide in acidic aqueous condition. It was deposited on soda lime glass by spin coating method in room temperature. Characterization of sol and coatings were investigated. Results are demonstrated the mean particle size of the sol was in the range of 30–40 nm and did not change in the coating. In addition, the particle size distribution is uniform in the coating surface. Crystalline structure of deposited film is also investigated. Photocatalytic activities of films were studied by degradation of a colour indicator under different UV exposition time.<\div>

۲The Effect of Zirconia and Ceria Nanoparticles in the Hybrid Nanocomposites Coatings on the Copper Corrosion Protection

Sol–gel processes are widely used in the preparation of environmental friendly hybrid nanocomposite coatings. In our pervious studies, the hybrid silica based nanocomposite coatings have been investigated for corrosion protection of 1050 aluminum alloys and the effect of silica content in the hybrid composition was also studied. In this study, the hybrid sols were prepared by hydrolysis and condensation of 3–glicidoxypropyl–trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) in the presence of an acidic catalyst, Bisphenol A (BPA) as cross–linking agent and 1 methyl imidazol as iniatiator. Additionally, the various ratios of ceria and zirconia nanoparticles was doped in the hybrid sol. The metal substrates were coated by spin coatings technique. The shape and size of the nano particles in the hybrid films were observed and determined using a transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The chemical composition and the structure of the nanocomposite hybrid coatings were studied by X–ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The evolution of the corrosion protection roperties of the hybrid coatings was studied by EIS (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy), which can provide quantitative information on the role of the different pretreatments.<\div>

۳Amino Coupling Agent in Hydrophilic Nanocomposite hybrid Coatings

Hydrophilic nanocomposite coatings were synthesized with incorporation of Aminoethylaminopropyltrimethoxysilane as a coupling agent by a sol–gel process. The results indicate the hydrophilic and homogeneity of the coatings are depended remarkably on the amounts of Aminoethylaminopropyltrimethoxysilane. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Si mapping micrographs indicated that there is a uniform distribution of silica particles in the coatings. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) was employed to study the thermal mechanical behavior of the nanocomposite hybrid coating. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is used to investigated surface topography of the coatings.<\div>
