۱Synthesis and Study of Epoxy–Silica Ceramers as Binder for Protective Coatings

A transparent organic–inorganic epoxy\silica hybrid material was prepared by functionalized–epoxy resin, which was partially functionalized by 3–aminopropyl triethoxylsilane (APTES), Tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) oligomers which was prepared through hydrolysis and condensation of TEOS with water. The structure of the hybrid materials was characterized by FT–IR spectroscopy, 29SiNMR spectroscopy and X–ray diffraction (XRD). The achieved hybrid materials then have been cured by an amine based curing agent. Morphologies of the cured films were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersion X–ray analysis (EDAX). Particle sizes were below 100 nm. Mechanical properties such as micro hardness and pull–off adhesion were studied. The data showed that ceramer coating properties were affected by both TEOS oligomer content and coupling agent content (APTES). The experimental results illustrate that structure, morphology of the epoxy–silica based Ceramers depend on reaction parameters and curing conditions.<\div>

۲Synthesis and Morphological Study of Silicone– Modified Epoxy Resin

In this work, synthesis and characterization of siliconized epoxy resin were studied. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with different molecular weights were reacted with an epoxy resin through a fusion process. The structure of the modified epoxies were studied by means of FTIR and EEW measurement. An amine based component was used as curing agent. The morphology of the cured films was studied by using transition optical microscopy (TOM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) instruments. With incorporating PDMS into epoxy structure a two–phase microstructure was obtained. The observations illustrate that the continuous phase is enriched by cured epoxy resin and the dispersed phase composed by silicone resin. It can be concluded that the efficiency of the reaction is affected by silicone molecular weight and amount.<\div>
