In this paper, a general method to calculate the value of capacitive reactance needed at the terminals of a Self Excited Induction Generator (SEIG) in order to have successfulvoltage buildup is considered. The method takes saturation of the iron core into account. Moreover, core loss phenomenon can betaken into account in order to investigate its effect on characteristics of a SEIG. Among the priorities of the proposed method are itsgenerality, simplicity of the computation algorithm and absence of convergence problems. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the method.<\div>
