۱Prediction of Inter–Area Separation Phenomena in Stressed Power Systems by Using Modal Series Method

This paper extends the application of the method of modal series to analyze the structural characteristics of power systems following different faults. Modal series method is relatively new established technique in the study of power system dynamics which in contrast of normal form method need not to nonlinear transformation and don’t suffer from parametric resonances. The paper has developed two analytically based indexes in modal series frame which identify onset of inter–area separation. The proposed approach has been applied to the IEEE 50–generator test system. The results obtained indicate that the proposed procedure effectively captures the structural characteristics of the system dynamic behavior and accurately predicts the nature of the system dynamic performance following large disturbances.<\div>

۲Study of Transient Behaviors of Stressed Power Systems in Vicinity of Instability by Modal Series Method

Highly stressed power systems exhibit complex dynamic behaviors such as inter–area oscillations when subjected to large disturbances. In such conditions, nonlinear effects have dominant role in determining dynamic response of the system. In this paper by using of modal series method, dynamic behaviors of the stressed power system in severe and critical conditions have been studied. Also two measures, mode dominance measure (MDM) and most perturbed machine factor (MPF) have been introduced. They determine the most dominant modes and identify the most perturbed generators. Contribution factors have been used to show the links between identified modes and machines from the analysis. Time domain simulation has been helped for validation of the results. The studies carried out on the IEEE 50–generator test system which demonstrates a wide range of dynamic characteristics at different loading levels and fault scenarios.<\div>

۳Impact of STATCOM and OPF on Power System Voltage Stability Using Modal Analysis and Quadratic Programming

This paper proposes application of STATCOM to extend steady–state voltage stability margin in electric power systems. A systematic analytical methodology based on the concept of modal analysis of modified load flow is used to determine the most effective locations for placement of STATCOM. In addition it is considered an optimal power flow based on Quadratic Programming to illustrate influence of STATCOM with OPF to improve voltage stability. A computer program has been developed and applied to the 14–bus to demonstrarte the
effect of STATCOM and OPF on voltage stability. Results reveal that the incorporation both of STATCOM and OPF improved static voltage stability and loadability of the system .<\div>

Reservoir management to enhance oil recovery, is always one of the concerns for the countries that have oil resources and each year vast sum of money is spent for research to enhance oil recovery. Owners of oil reserves try to get higher productivity from their own resources with new methods and less expensive methods. One of the most common methods of enhance oil recovery, is displacement of oil with gas injection. Injection of miscible gas is used to reduce or eliminate surface tension forces. On the other hand, most reservoirs of the Middle East region and also Iran are fractured reservoirs. Due to the matrix and fracture system which has different reservoir characteristics, fractured reservoirs are far more complex than conventional reservoir in prediction and simulation of fluid flow. Since typically the maximum amount of oil exists within the matrix, so we should use methods that can displace oil in the matrixes. One of the main methods for enhance oil recovery from fractured reservoirs is using gravity drainage mechanism within the matrix. In this case, injection of carbon dioxide as a miscible gas, is very effective as the low–pressure miscibility and providing a mechanism of gravity drainage and a significant increase in the ultimate recovery factor of this type of reservoirs.In this project, we try to use the information of one of Iranian's oil fields and then, by using the compositional model, the phenomenon of molecular diffusion effect on gravity drainage mechanism will be investigated. The results of the simulation shows, the importance of the phenomenon of molecular diffusion in the non–equilibrium gas injection into fractured reservoirs.<\div>
