۱ENHANCEMENT OF WATER VOLATILITY IN THE WATERTEG SOLUTION IN THE PRESENCE OF TOLUENE AND ISOOCTANE

In this work, vapor–liquid equilibria for systems water–triethylene glycol (TEG) and water– TEG–toluene–isooctane solutions were measured experimentally. The VLE data were determined in a modified Othmer still which is the continuous–distillation still that recirculates the vapor phase and the samples were analyzed using gas chromatography and titration method. NRTL and UNIQUAC models were correlated for liquid phase behavior. It was observed that the correlations can provide good agreement with experimental data. The results of multi–component VLE demonstrate the enhancement of volatility of water in water–TEG solutions and increasing the purity of the dehydrated TEG by the addition of toluene and isooctane.<\div>

۲SIMULATION OF HETEROGENEOUS AND HOMOGENOEUS CATALYTIC NAPHTHA REFORMING REACTORS

In this study catalytic naphtha reforming was modeled in the presence of catalyst deactivation. The performance of the reactors was investigated using heterogeneous and homogeneous models. The models were validated against historical plant data of naphtha reformer plant. The values of activation energies in reaction kinetics were estimated for Pt–Re catalyst. Good agreements were achieved and both models were found to predict identical results under industrial operating conditions. To investigate the effect of inlet gas velocity on the similarity of gas and solid phases the reactor was modeled at different inlet flow rates. The simple homogeneous model represents a useful tool for simulation of naphtha reforming at industrial conditions. Introducing such a simple model reduces the number of typical states to half, and this in itself will significantly reduce the level of computation in the model base estimators.<\div>

۳Enzymatic Conversion of Glucose to Fructose in a Bioreactor Pilot Plant Scale

Isomerization of glucose to fructose has been studied experimentally in a pilot plant packed bed bioreactor (PBB) using immobilized Sweetzyme IT. The objective of this work is understanding the parameters' effects on the performance of enzymatic bioreactor in pilot plant scale. The reactor’s diameter and height are 10 cm and 140 cm respectively, and it is filled with Sweetzyme IT as glucose isomerase enzyme. The experiments have been carried out at 60 oC with glucose solution with 20 and 40% wt concentrations and different flow rates. The results show that the structure of bioreactor in large scale and operating conditions were satisfactory. Also, at lower flow rates and concentrations, the higher conversion of glucose is obtained, but the higher rate of production of fructose is observed at higher flow rates and concentrations<\div>
