In this article, the electrochemical smoothing is considered. There is potential variance between the tool (cathode) and the workpiece (anode) in this process and the electrolyte flows in the distance between the anode and cathode gap. In contrary to the electrochemical machining, the electrochemical smoothing has no feed rate and is fixed. The simulation is performed and the changes of surface’ roughness and the current density are calculated time to time. This simulation saves time and charge of the machining. ECMSTD4, designed by MATLAB software, is applied to solving the equations and simulation of the electrochemical smoothing. ECMSTD is powerful software with high ability and low error that is programmed for this research.<\div>

In this article, the electric potential is determined in the machining gap of the Electrochemical machining process. The electric potential of each node is obtained which is into the machining gap, with regards to the boundary conditions in order to solve the Laplace equation by the finite element method (FEM) and the Equipotential lines are drawn. By these potential points a proper shape for tools is determined and the process is simulated. It was applied ECMSTD3 software for simulation which was designed by MATLAB software and has high ability and low error.<\div>
