۱Experimental Effects of Various Parameters on Kink–Band Formation of Glass\Epoxy Laminates

The main focus of this article is to investigate the parameters affecting the fiber–kinking damage mode in unidirectional composite laminates. For this purpose several specimens with various dimensions and off–axis angles are made using glass\epoxy (Type C) ASNA 4197 prepreg composite material. The offaxis angles of 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 degree are considered for the specimens. Various geometry dimensions are also considered for the specimens. Each compression test will be repeated for at least three times. A special compressive fixture will be used in order to ensure that the specimens are in full contact with the loading machine elements and to eliminate the potential bending moments. Finally the obtained experimental results are presented and discussed to investigate the effects of off–axis angle and specimens’ size on the compressive strength and kink–band angle. Failure mechanism of each specimen will be reported as well<\div>
