۱Nano silica chromic acid\wet SiO2 and NaNO2 as an efficient reagent system for synthesis of azo dyes based on 1–naphthol at room temperature and solvent–free conditions

A convenient, rapid, and one–pot method for the synthesis of azo dyes has been developed. In this protocol, diazotization reagent (ArN2+ –CrO3–SiO2) was prepared via grinding of aromatic amines, NaNO2, wet SiO2 and nano silica chromic acid (Nano–SCA) without solvent at room temperature. The obtained diazotization reagent was sufficiently stable to be kept at room temperature in the dry state for long time. Azo dyes were prepared by coupling of ArN2+ –CrO3–SiO2 with 1–naphthoxide in good to excellent yields. Mild and heterogeneous reaction conditions, high stability of diazonium salt, easy procedure, short reaction time and high yields are some important advantages of this protocol.

۲Nano–BF3.SiO2: A reusable and eco–friendly catalyst for thioacetalization and trans–thioacetalization reactions

Nano–silica supported boron trifluoride (BF3.SiO2) is an efficient, reusable and eco–friendly catalyst for chemoselective thioacetalization of aldehydes and ketones. So, this catalyst was applied for transthioacetalization of acetals and acylals into their corresponding 1,3–dithiolanes or 1,3–dithianes in good to excellent yields. The reactions were carried out at room temperature under solvent free and grinding conditions in 1.5–2.5 minutes.

A convenient and efficient direct protocol for the preparation of antibacterial azo dyes by the reaction of 2–naphthol with aromatic amines in the presence of catalytic amount of N–methyl–2–pyrrolidonium hydrogen sulfate ([H–NMP]HSO4) was carried out under solvent free conditions. This method has some advantages such as: easy work–up and easy separation of catalyst from the reaction mixture. The in vitro antibacterial activities of some compounds were studied using gram positive and negative microorganisms.

A highly efficient procedure for the preparation of N,N''–alkylidenebisamides in the presence of BF3.SiO2 as a catalyst is described. N,N''–alkylidenebisamides have been prepared via one–pot three–component condensation reaction of various aldehydes and amides. All of the reactions proceeded in high yields and in moderately short reaction times.

۷Polymer\HIO4 : An efficient catalyst for solvent–free synthesis of 2–naphthol azo dyes

A convenient, one–pot method for the synthesis of diazonium salt has been developed by the sequential diazotization of aromatic amines with NaNO2, polymer– supported periodic acid (PPIA) and 2–naphthole under solvent–free conditions at room temperature. By using this method, several types of aromatic amine, containing electron–withdrawing and electron–donating groups, were rapidly converted to the corresponding azo dyes in good to excellent yields. The ensuing aryl diazonium salts supported on polymer (aryl diazonium polymer), ArN2 +IO4 – were sufficiently stable to be kept at room temperature in the dry state. The use of mild reaction conditions and an inexpensive procedure are further advantages of this method.

۸[B(OH)3]0.78[B(OH)2(OSO3H)]0.22 as a new, cheap and eco–friendly catalyst for synthesis of acylals at room temperature under solvent free conditions

[B(OH)3]0.78[B(OH)2(OSO3H)]0.22 or (BSA) was simply prepared by addition of chlorosulfonic acid to commercial boric acid at room temperature. This cheap and green solid acid was used as an efficient catalyst for synthesis of acylals from aldehydes under solvent–free conditions at room temperature.

The presence of an imidazole ring in natural products and pharmacologically active compounds has instituted a diverse array of synthetic approaches to these heterocycles. Very recently, we among many others have demonstrated that heterogeneous reagent systems have many advantages such as simple experimental procedures, mild reaction conditions and minimization of chemical wastes as compared to the liquid phase counterparts. Thus, inorganic acidic salts such as Al(HSO4)3, Mg(HSO4)2 and Zr(HSO4)4 could be recommended for above mentioned purposes. Al(HSO4)3 is an efficient, readily available and cheap catalyst for thesynthesis of 1,3–benzo[d]thiazole derivatives by condensation of 2–aminothiophenol and aldehydesunder sonication conditions.This protocol is very simple with easy workup and good to excellent yieldsof products.

TiCl2\nano–γ–Al2O3 as a new heterogeneous Lewis acid catalyst was synthesized and characterized by FE–SEM, XRD, FT–IR, EDS, XRF, BET and TGA. N–substituted pyrroles have been synthesized via Paal–Knorr reaction in the presence of TiCl2\nano–γ–Al2O3 at room temperature under solvent–free conditions.
