۱Investigation of physical and chemical performance of polyacrylamide gel polymer for Iranian oil reservoir condition

Excessive water production causes major economic loss due to decreased oil production, and increased costs of lifting, separation and disposal of large amounts of produced water. There are several processes for water reducing depending to physical properties of oil reservoirs. Water–soluble polymers with a suitable crosslinker have been successfully used to reduce water production in the field. This paper describes the research and development process for formulate a polyacrylamide\Cr (ІІІ) gel polymer system to control water production in one of the Iranian oil reservoir condition. Formulation strategy, laboratory procedure and experimental results will be presented. The effect of various parameters on the
gelation kinetic and gel strength are characterized with Bottle testing method. The typical final formulation as an optimum composition gives remarkable properties in high temperature and high salinity condition.<\div>

۲Use of Polyacrylamide Polymer Gel for Conformance Control in the Ahwaz–Asmari Reservoir Conditions

Nowadays, polymer gels are widely used to prevent unwanted water production from oil reservoirs. In this paper, Cr(III)–acetate\ polyacrylamide copolymer gel behavior was evaluated in the Ahwaz–Asmari oil reservoir conditions considering reservoir temperature and water formation. Afterwards, an experimental study was performed to assess the polymer gel performance to reduce water permeability by coreflood experiments. The results showed that quality of water formation can have significant influence on the gel polymer properties especially presence of divalent cations in formation water decreased gelation time. Also, based on coreflood results average water permeability was about 1 mD for the treated core after gel treatment.<\div>

۳Investigation of Gel Rheology Used for Water Shutoff Treatment

It has been observed that large amounts of polyacrylamide gels are being used for reducing excess water production from matrix and fracture media. Gel performance as water shutoff can be evaluated by coreflood experiments, but they are both expensive and timeconsuming. In this work, Cr(III)–acetate\ polyacrylamide copolymer gel behavior were studied using rheological measurements. The results indicated high capability of the gelled network to stretch up to 3000%. The consistency of gelling system also depends on time–scale so that in short scale the gelling system behaves like an elastic material but in long scale viscous nature dominated on its elastic<\div>

۴Viscoelastic properties of sulfonated polyacrylamide\chromium triacetate Polymer Gels

Among the methods available to reduce water production, injecting a gelling system composed of a polymer and a crosslinker has been widely used. In this work , a hydrogel was prepared by crosslinking of the aqueous solution of AMPS 2–acrylamido –2methyl–propanesulfonic – acid sodium salt , acrylamide co – polymer PAMPS and chromium acetate III. study of the viscoelastic behavior of hydrogels using dynamic rheometry showed that the storage modulus of the hydrogels increased with increasing of the co–polymer concentration and the crosslinker\co–polymer ratio, but in low concentrations 5500,7500ppm of co–polymer , there was no more effect on the elastic modulus by increasing of the crosslinker\co–polymer ratio. therefore the effect of co–polymer and crosslinker concentrations on the apparent plastic viscosity of the gel was investigated. increasing of solvent ionic power caused a decrease in the late gel strength , in which the effect of divalent ions was more than monovalent ions.<\div>

۵SCREENING OF EFFECTIVE FACTORS ON GELATION TIME OF HYDROGELS

In this work, a hydrogel was prepared by crosslinking of aqueous solutions of sulfonated polyacrylamide\chromium triacetate in purpose ofwater shut off treatment. In order to screen theeffective factors on the gelation time and investigate their interactions, fractional factorial design methodwas used in experimentation with eight factors (pH, CaCl2 concentration, crosslinker\co–polymer ratio, NaCl concentration, co–polymer concentration,sodium lactate, nanoclay and thiouria) and one response (gelation time). Furthermore, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) was implemented as a significanttool to evaluate the quality of the quadratic model which was shown the 99% confidence limit of significant. Among the eight factors, sodium lactate,co–polymer concentration, nanoclay, thiouria and crosslinker\co–polymer ratio were the main effects respectively and the interactions between sodium lactate and crosslinker\co–polymer ratio, pH and crosslinker\co–polymer ratio were highly effective<\div>

۶Preformed Particle Gel: Effects of Calcium Chloride and pH on Equilibrium Swelling Ratio by Using Response Surface Methodology

In this study, preformed particle gel was prepared from a hydrogel crosslinking of an aqueous solution containing chromium acetate (III) and the co–polymer of 2–acrylamido–2methylpropanesulfonic– acid sodium salt (AMPS) and acrylamide (PAMPS). The effects of CaCl2 concentration and pH were investigated on swelling behavior. In order to determine the significant factors that affect the equilibrium swelling ratio and also to develop the quadratic mathematicalmodels, central composite design (CCD), the most popular form of Response Surface Methodology (RSM), was applied. Therefore, the main purpose was to establish functionalrelationship between the two factors and the equilibrium swelling ratio by using a statisticaltechnique. The results of analysis of variance (ANOVA) of the developed model illustrated that the fitted model was significant in 99% confidence limit. The results were also shown that theequilibrium swelling ratios depended more on CaCl2 concentration than pH and also there was an interaction between these two factors.<\div>

۷Disproportional Permeability Reduction behavior of Hydrogels

The use of gelling system as a diverting and\or blocking agent is widely practiced today to improve production of oil and gas. A hydrogel was prepared by crosslinking of aqueous solutions of sulfonated polyacrylamide\chromium triacetate for use in water shut off operations. The effects of salinity, injection time and flow rate on residual resistance factor (Frr) were investigated. Results showed that oil permeability increased as injection time increased. The results alsoindicated that the effect of gel treatment increased with decreasing of the injection rate. However,when the sand packed was water flooded by formation water, Frrw was decreased by about 49%. According to the results, Disproportionate Permeability Reduction (DPR) was the phenomena that indicated the gel swelling versus injected water and dehydration versus injected oil.<\div>
