Anionic polyurethane di spersants can be used as polymeric d ispersants in paint and coatings. In this research, wehave been synthesized an anionic photopolymerizable urethane methacrylate (APUA) as photo–curable dispersant forusing in UV–curable coatings. The first, a oligo–urethane having carboxylic groups in backbone and NCO terminalendgroups was synthesized by isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA) in the presenceof dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) as catal.yst and acetone as a reaction solvent. The next step, photopolymerizableurethane dispersant was synthesized by reaction of hydroxyethyl methac rylate (HEMA) with NCO terminal–endgroups. Then, carboxylic groups in photopolymerizable urethane dispersant was neutralized by triethyl amine.Finally, acetone was removed by vacuum oven. The anionic photopolymerizable urethane dispersant wascharacterized by 1H–NMR, FT–IR. The anionic photopolymerizable urethane methacrylate was investigated asdispersing agents of silica in UV –curable clear coat. Mechanical properties of surface coatings consist of hardness,cross cut, impact, MEK rub and gloss test have been determined<\div>

۲Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Photopolymerizable poly (Quaternary Ammonium Salt) as Biocide Used in UV–cruable Coatings

The quaternary ammonium salt can be used as biocide in coatings. In this research, we have been synthesized a novel photopolymerizable poly (quaternary ammonium salt) (PQAS) as biocide for using in UB–curable coatings. The first, a oliqo–urethane bearing tertiary amine groups in backbone and NCO terminal–end groups was synthesized by isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) and N–methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) in the presence of dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) as catalyst and acetone as a reaction solvent. The next step, photopolymerizable urethane acrylate bearing tertiary amine groups was synthesized by reaction of hydroxythyl methacrylate (HEMA) with NCO terminal–end groups. Then, tertiary amine qroups in urethane acrylate were quaternized by benzyl chloride. Finally, acetone was removed by vacuum oven. The PQAS was characterized by H–NMR and FT–IR The novel photopolymerizable poly (quaternary ammonium salt) was compared with cetyldimethylbenzyl ammonium chhoride as biocide. On the other hand, it acted as cross–linking agent in UV–curable coatings.<\div>
