Cathodic protection is one of the most important techniques employed for underground gas and pipeline corrosion protection. The authors have studied problems encountered in old and new installation in the field of oil and gas industries. Problems such as non uniform potential distribution, interference effects on foreign structures and misunderstanding in the use of cathodic protection in various installations. This paper will discuss the examples of such problems in cathodic protection of underground oil and gas pipelines and solution to the problems.<\div>

۲Control of Shape, Content and Chemical Composition of Non–metallic Inclusions in API–X42 Pipeline Steel and the Influences of Them on the Mechanical and Corrosion Properties of Steel

In recent years many different ways have been investigated by steel producers to increase ductility, formability and corrosion resistance of steel. More important ways are steels with very low amounts of inclusion, small size inclusions and modified inclusions. In this study, experiments have been performed on the API–X42 pipe line steel produced by the electric arc furnace in Mobarakeh Steel Co. After the preparation of the melt in the electric arc furnace, it is taped in a 200–ton ladle and ladle treatment was performed in a ladle furnace (LF) in the steelmaking shop. In this study the effect of calcium compound addition on the shape, content and chemical composition of non–metallic inclusions were investigated by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and chemical Energy analysis Dispersive System (EDS) that the optimum conditions for adding compound for inclusions control were also determined. It should be considered, presence of inclusions in steel can have worse effects on corrosion properties and strength of hydrogen damage in H2S included environment. Therefore, displacement of glycerin was used to measure the amount of diffusible hydrogen. Immersed test is sour media was performed on NACE standard and similar media with added thiosulphate ions. The results show that adding the 300 grams calcium powder per ton of molten steel cause to generate of spherical inclusions and therefore, the suitable conditions will be prepared for flotation and removing of them in the ladle by changing the chemical composition. The results also show the reducing and spherical inclusions lead to reducing diffusible hydrogen and corrosion rate.<\div>

۳Investigating the anodizing process of Aluminum alloys in 0.3M Oxalic acid and its metallurgical and mechanical behavior

The unique nature of the porous alumina oxide layer on the substrate of aluminum alloys in last decades, have attracted the attention of sciences. Anodizing is an electrochemical process to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of Aluminum alloys. Anodizing, increase corrosion and wear resistance of alloys and changes the crystalline structure of the Aluminum alloys near. Anodic layers are generally hard and fragile. Pore diameter, distance between pores, wall thickness, barrier layer thickness and pore density are the most important factorsthat are related to anodizing process. In this study, we worked on anodizing of Aluminum 1100 to produce nanostructure pores. In this paper, two step anodizing were performed in 0.3M oxalic acid. Voltage and current density were recorded during the tests. Related to their curves the transition from mild to hard anodizing observed. FESEM Micrographs, confirmed the results of the anodizing too. At least, Hardness of aluminum alloys are investigated and results showed that, hardness of alloys change according to Voltage and current density. These structures are suitablefor aircraft industries to improve their mechanical and metallurgical properties<\div>
