۱Simulation and Field Testing of a Railway Falling Weight Deflection Measurement Technique

A new test method for measurement of railway track response has been established. A Falling weight impacts the rail and the track response is acquired by series of LVDTs and geophones. This paper describes the procedure for development of field testing including the finite element modeling and trials to test set up. The repeatability of this testing technique is examined by successive drops and different load levels. The aim of the research is to assess the track substructure from the acquired deflection basin by this falling weight testing technique<\div>

۲Investigation of seismic performance of concentrically braced frames with zipper columns

Inverted–v braced frames are typical braced frame configurations which with increase of lateral loads the compressive braces buckle and plastic hinges form in the braces. Shear capacity of frame decrease as a result of compression braces' buckling. To overcome these limitations of chevron braced frames zipper braced frames have been suggested. Zipper columns are vertical members connecting the mid points of the beams above the first floor. In order to investigate the seismic behavior of zipper braced frames 3, 6, 9 and 12 story zipper braced frames was designed and modeled in ABAQUS and nonlinear time history analyses were conducted. As a consequence, the results showed that zipper columns help to improve the seismic performance by uniform damage distribution over the height of building.<\div>

Chevron braced frames are typical lateral load resisting system which have poor performance due to buckling of the compressive braces and forming soft story mechanism. To improve the seismic behavior of chevron braced frames and overcome these disadvantages of chevron braced frames, zipper braced frames have been proposed. In order to investigate the seismic behavior of zipper braced frames 3, 6, 9 and 12 story zipper braced frames were designed and modeled in ABAQUS. Nonlinear time history analyses showed that seismic performance of chevron braced frames improved by adding zipper columns due to uniform damage distribution over the building height<\div>
