The research program was designed to supply initial data on the influence of slag cement on the fresh and hardened properties of concrete to be used inpavements and bridge structures. Three different Type I cements were examined along with four different concrete mixtures. The four mixturescontained varying amounts of slag cement, fly ash, or a combination of both materials. The results of the research showed that the addition of slag cement was largely positive for all cements, whereas the addition of fly ash produced mixed effects.<\div>

It is one of important measures for the sustainable development of cement industry to utilize industrial wastes. High–strength composite portland cementwith a large amount of granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS), fly ash and limestone was prepared by separate grinding method, optimizing gypsum andusing activators. The total amounts of blending materials are between 45% and 65% and the strength grades of cements reach 525 or even 625 according toChinese national standard for composite portland cement. Besides setting time and strength, the hydration heat, drying shrinkage and sulfate resistance were also determined.<\div>

Various configurations of thermionic fuel element (TFE) collector insulation of thermionic nuclear power plant (NPP) have been considered. The results of the experimental studies of collector insulation samples are presented. Their serviceability and high insulating characteristics which meet the requirements of high–voltage thermionic NPP have been shown<\div>

Thermophoretic deposition of aerosol particles (particle diameter ranges from 0.038 to 0.498 μm) was measured in a tube (1.18 m long, 0.43 cm inner diameter, stainless steel tube) using monodisperse NaCl test particles under laminar and turbulent flow conditions. In this study, particle deposition efficiencies due to other deposition mechanisms such as electrostatic deposition for particles in Boltzmann charge equilibrium and laminar and turbulent diffusions were carefully assessed so that the deposition due to thermophoresis alone could be measured accurately.<\div>
