Chitosan (consisting of N–acetyl–glucosamine and N–glucosamine units), a polysaccharide with excellent biological properties, has been widely used in diverse biomedical applications. However, many barriers still exist to its broader usage due to its physical limitations hence; further work is needed to improve these properties. In the present investigation, attempt was made to prepare films of chitosan (Ch) blended with polyethylene glycol fumarate (PEGF) in various ratios (10:90 to 90:10) by the conventional solution–casting method. Intermolecular interactions between Ch and PEGF in the blend films were elucidated from their Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra. The films were also characterized by Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). These interactions were among the amino, carboxyl, and hydroxyl groups of the two components inside the blend films which can be attributed to the hydrogen bonds. Transparency of the films was evaluated by UV–Visible spectroscopy showing a decrement in the film transparency as PEGF share was increased in the blend composition because the blend film matrices contained pores.<\div>
