The optical communication systems for millimeter–scale sensing and communication devises known as Smart Dust are described and analyzed. A smart dust element is a self–contained sensing and communication system that can be combined into roughly a cubic–millimeter mote to perform integrated, massively distributed sensor networks. The suitable passive optical and fiber–optic communication systems will be selected for the further performance design and analysis based on the requirements for implementing these systems. Based on the communication link designs of the free–space passive optical and fiber–optic communication systems, the simulations for link performance will be performed.<\div>

Satellite communications are experiencing very significant technical evolutions, which will be key in defining the role of satellites in future networks as a means to provide broadband access to the Internet over vast coverage’s. These changes have been enabled by new techniques and technologies: adaptive coding and modulation for the exploitation of EHF bands, where several GHz of bandwidth are available; on board processing for in–space routing; large reflectors for multi–beam antennas with hundreds of spot beams; exploitation of digital beam–forming network concept.in this paper shows As expected, differently from the single beam, the SFSN system is able to guarantee a flat capacity over the entire service area, at the cost of a correct design of beams position and CDD parameters.<\div>
