Context: Steria Gravidarum is a physiological skin change that many women experience during pregnancy and causes stress and concerns about their beauty, self–esteem and other psychological problems by irritation and even ulcers in the affected areas.Aims: This study performed to evaluate the effect of sesame and sweet almond oil on the incidence of steria (primary outcome) in nulliparous women.Patients and Methods: This triple–blind randomized controlled clinical trial was done on 150 nulliparous women at 5 health centers affiliated to Arak University of Medical Sciences. The subjects randomly allocated into two interventions and one control groups by block randomization method. They received 1cc sesame, 1cc sweet almond oil or 1cc Placebo, respectively, 2 times daily for 20 weeks. The independent t–test, chi–square, Kruskal–Wallis and binary logistic regression were used to analyze data. Results: Steria at 35–38 weeks of pregnancy were observed in 59.2%, 16.7% and 82% of participants of sweet almond oil, sesame oil and control groups, respectively (p<0.001). The incidence risk of steria significantly decreased in the sesame oil (adjusted OR= 0.04, CI = 0.01 to 0.13) and almond oil (0.32, 0.11 to 0.89) comparing with the control group. Abdominal itching was significantly different (p<0.001) among consumers of almond oil (65.3%), sesame oil (10.5%) and control group (78%).Conclusions: The sesame oil and sweet almond both were effective in reducing the incidence of abdominal steria and itching.<\div>
