۱A Study on Processing and Characterization of BNi2 Nickel–based Amorphous Brazing Foil

Nowadays, amorphous brazing foils are widely used in various industries such as aerospace and energy due to having characteristics such as low thickness, excellent fluidity, wide range of chemical composition and lack oforganic materials, and therefore causing higher strength and more reliable joint, in comparison with conventionalbrazing materials. In this study, BNi2 nickel–based brazing foil was prepared by planar flow casting method with athickness of 45 μm and a width of 20 mm. Amorphous structure of rapidly solidified BNi2 foils was verified by XRD test carried out on both the free and chill surfaces of the foils. Surface quality of the foils was studied using scanning electron microscopy and surface roughness test. The mean value of the surface roughness (Ra) was 0.278 μm. Solidus and liquidus temperatures of the amorphous BNi2 foils were determined to be 960 and 1025 ºC, respectively by using the differential thermal analysis test<\div>
