۱Development of Energy Management Systems– Case Study of an Iranian Cement Production Plant

Energy management (EM) practice in a cement production plant is studied in this paper. The guideline for cement industry in implementing energy management systems is provided based on ISO 50001 (and BS EN 16001:2009) and ISIRI 7873 standards. Firstly, the responsibilities and authorities in addition to energy policy and planning were defined. Then, based on energy auditing several energy saving measures and action plans were implemented and valuated. The proposed action plans varied between simple actions to complicated and high–cost investments. The result of introducing energy management to the studied plant caused that electrical and thermal energy required for each additional unit of production decrease about 10.4% and 7.6% from 2008 to 2010, respectively. Moreover, the process control has improved in addition to the reduction of electrical and thermal specific energy consumption about 22.6% and 19.9% from 2008 to 2010, respectively.<\div>
