A convenient, rapid, and one–pot method for the synthesis of azo dyes has been developed. In this protocol, diazotization reagent (ArN2+ –CrO3–SiO2) was prepared via grinding of aromatic amines, NaNO2, wet SiO2 and nano silica chromic acid (Nano–SCA) without solvent at room temperature. The obtained diazotization reagent was sufficiently stable to be kept at room temperature in the dry state for long time. Azo dyes were prepared by coupling of ArN2+ –CrO3–SiO2 with 1–naphthoxide in good to excellent yields. Mild and heterogeneous reaction conditions, high stability of diazonium salt, easy procedure, short reaction time and high yields are some important advantages of this protocol.

۲Nano–BF3.SiO2: A reusable and eco–friendly catalyst for thioacetalization and trans–thioacetalization reactions

Nano–silica supported boron trifluoride (BF3.SiO2) is an efficient, reusable and eco–friendly catalyst for chemoselective thioacetalization of aldehydes and ketones. So, this catalyst was applied for transthioacetalization of acetals and acylals into their corresponding 1,3–dithiolanes or 1,3–dithianes in good to excellent yields. The reactions were carried out at room temperature under solvent free and grinding conditions in 1.5–2.5 minutes.

An one–pot method has been developed for the synthesis of azo dyes via sequential diazotization–diazo coupling of aromatic amines with coupling agents at room temperature in the presence of Bi(NO3)3. 5H2O. Short reaction times, high yields, a clean process, simple methodology, easy work–up and green ‎conditions are advantages of this protocol.‎

۴Kaolin–SO3H as an efficient catalyst for one–pot synthesis of 1,2,4,5–tetrasubstituted imidazoles

Kaolin–SO3H as a new solid acid is prepared via reaction of kaolin and chlorosulfonic acid. This natural based catalyst is very inexpensive and easy available. Imidazoles are an important class of heterocycles being the core fragment of different natural products and biological systems such as anti–allergic, anti–inflammatory, analgesic, antifungal, antimycotic, antibiotic, antiulcerative, antibacterial, antitumor and inhibitors of the p38 MAP kinase. A simple, highly versatile and efficient synthesis of 1,2,4,5–tetrasubstituted imidazoles is achieved using Kaolin–SO3H as a catalyst at moderate temperature under solvent free condition. The key advantages of this process are high yields with simple work–up using easy available inexpensive natural based catalyst.

۵One–pot synthesis of 1,3–benzo[d]thiazole derivatives promoted by Al(HSO4)3 under sonication conditions

The presence of an imidazole ring in natural products and pharmacologically active compounds has instituted a diverse array of synthetic approaches to these heterocycles. Very recently, we among many others have demonstrated that heterogeneous reagent systems have many advantages such as simple experimental procedures, mild reaction conditions and minimization of chemical wastes as compared to the liquid phase counterparts. Thus, inorganic acidic salts such as Al(HSO4)3, Mg(HSO4)2 and Zr(HSO4)4 could be recommended for above mentioned purposes. Al(HSO4)3 is an efficient, readily available and cheap catalyst for thesynthesis of 1,3–benzo[d]thiazole derivatives by condensation of 2–aminothiophenol and aldehydesunder sonication conditions.This protocol is very simple with easy workup and good to excellent yieldsof products.

۶BF3\nano–sawdust as a green, biodegradable and inexpensive catalyst for one–pot synthesis of tri–substituted imidazoles under solvent free conditions

BF3\nano–sawdust as a green, inexpensive, natural, biodegradable and readily available biopolymer solid acid catalyst was synthesized and characterized. This catalystwas used successfully for the synthesis of various tri–substituted imidazoles in high yields under solvent free conditions.
