۱Simultaneous Coordinated Tuning of Power System Stabilizers Using Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm

In this paper an Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) Algorithm is employed for simultaneous coordinated tuning of two power system stabilizers (PSSs) to damp the power system inter–area oscillations. ABC is a populationbased optimization algorithm inspired by the foraging behavior of bee colony and proven its superior capabilities, such as faster convergence and better global minimum achievement. For this, two conventional PSSs are designed in which a lead–lag structure is considered for each PSS and its parameters are tuned using ABC. To illustrate the feasibility of the proposed method, a 2–area 4– machine system is considered. To show the effectiveness of the designed PSSs, the study power system is tested under two conditions: applying a line–to–ground fault at a bus and a three phase fault at a bus. Also, to validate the results obtained by ABC algorithm, Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Shuffled Frog Leaping algorithm (SFLA) are applied for comparison. Simulation studies show that the designed PSSs have good capability in damping the power systems low frequency oscillations.<\div>

۲Load Frequency Control of Interconnected Power System Using Brain Emotional Learning Based Intelligent Controller

In this paper the brain emotional learning based intelligent controller (BELBIC) is used for solution the load frequency control (LFC) problem. The BELBIC is a new type of intelligent controller based on emotion processing mechanism in the brain. The frequency deviation of the system is directly utilized to tune the controller parameters. To illustrate the capability of the proposed approach, the numerical results are presented on a two–area interconnected power system. The obtained results of the proposed method compare to those by conventional PI controller show its robustness with a satisfactory response in the presence of system parameters variations.<\div>

۳An Improved Adaptive Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm to Solve Various Non–smooth Economic Dispatch Problems in Power Systems

This paper presents an Improved Adaptive Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (IASFLA) applied to solve practical Economic Dispatch (ED) problem that is known as ahighly constrained non–linear optimization problem with nonconvex space. In this paper, a new adaptive frog leaping rule is suggested to enhance the local exploration and performance of the SFLA. Furthermore, to improve the performance and quicker algorithm convergence, the genetic mutation operator isemployed for new frog generation instead of random frog generation. To show the efficiency of the proposed IASFLA insolving ED problem, it is applied to four test systems having nonsmooth and non–convex solution spaces. In order to validate theobtained results by proposed IASFLA, an ordinary SFLA and a modified SFLA (MSFLA) are adopted from the literature and applied for comparison. Also, the results obtained by the SFLalgorithms are compared with the recently previous methods reported in the literature. Simulation studies show the superiority and advantages of the proposed IASFLA over the other methods.<\div>
