The study is based on the hypothesis that the effectiveness of students training to innovative engineering activities would be enhanced if it implemented in phases, with the consequent increase of tasks complexity with the deepening of activity component of education system. For this purpose, we developed a pedagogical model, which includes the objective, conceptual, informative, technological and diagnostic components. There are two stages for the model implementing: the first step (theoretical) is engineering innovation training and the second (practical) is academic summer schools for graduate students and young scientists. Such schools gave good effect and experience. The competence in innovative engineering can be completely formed in academic summer schools because such form of active learning combines both activities and intensive training. As the second stage of the innovation competence formation, summer training schools enhances the efficiency of students prepare for innovative engineering. Increasing the efficiency of these schools is implemented by using an integrated educational technology, which is based on pedagogy of cooperation.
