In facility layout design, the problem of locating facilities with material flow between them was formulated as a quadratic assignment problem (QAP), so that the total cost to move the required material between the facilities is minimized, where the cost is defined by a quadratic function. The most proposed models for solving CMS problems are focused on cell formation and intracellular machine layout problem while cell layout is considered in few papers. This paper presents a new mathematical model to solve a facility linear layout problem in cellular manufacturing systems (CMSs). This model layout depends on the distance of machine locations in cells. A number of instances are optimally solved by the Lingo software to validate and verify the proposed model. Finally, computational results are reported and analyzed.<\div>
