This study examines the status of waste governance structure andrelations, role and responsibilities of stakeholders,and regulatory framework in Iran.The focus is on Tehran as a case example. The study employed a qualitative research approach in the collection and analysis of data.Data for the study were gathered through semi structure interviews from key informant among individual and organisations, which are stakeholders of MSW management. In addition to the interviews, some of the relevant official reports, articles, policies, and legal documents relating to solid waste managementreviewed. The study recommends a stronger institutional and administration reform and coordination between the relevant institutions and improve community participation for effective waste governance system.
