Since ancient times, urbanization engineers have always thought of creating green spaces along with urbanization. Athens and Rome have attempted to construct public gardens around streets and palaces. Since then developing green space has become a part of urban civilization. In medieval ages, Western cities all had palaces and houses with internal gardens. In different sources green belt is defined as a green band of trees and bushes around the cities which has multiple functions. It is said that green belts are not only around the mountains and, cities and rivers but also, around houses, subways and highways. Constructing green belt around cities has different advantages such as: protecting cities against pollution, purifying air, screening dust, being a place for recreation, buffer zone of city internal lands, confronting the phenomenon of heat island, increasing agricultural products, helping to prevent illegal city development, confronting deforestation, preventing flood and increasing subterranean water resources.<\div>

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is the process of modeling fluid flows by the numerical solution of the governing partial differential equations or other mathematical equations of motion. The attraction of the subject is twofold. Firstly, the desire to be able to model physical fluid phenomena that cannot be easily simulated or measured with a physical experiment. Secondly, the desire to be able to investigate physical fluid systems more cost effectively and more rapidly than with experimental procedures. With help of CFD we did simulation of Wind–catcher. Wind– catcher is device used for proper ventilation, air conditioning. It is situated at top of house, so that it can catch wind and circulate in the house. There has been less research done in area of Wind–catcher specially modeling & simulation of wind–catcher. In this paper we did case study of Wind–catcher with one partition & Wind–catcher with two partitions, & analyzed it for best design with help of pre–processing software that is ICEM CFD 10.0. Solver & post–processing software was used is FLUENT ANSYS 6.2.<\div>

۳Desert Houses of the Past: Green Buildings of Today

The weather in deserts is hot and dry in summers, and cold and dry in winters, and difference of temperature of nights and days sometimes reaches to 28C°. People of deserts have reached some solutions to cope with this climatic condition and to decrease its annoying features. Among these solutions are: constructing houses adjacent to each other, making tall walls, using mud brick and thatch cover, constructing domical arches, cellar, and wind catcher, which are together the devices to control the adversity of hot weather in summers and cold weather in winters. Using these solutions, the people of deserts have succeeded to make the best use with the least energy consumption, and to damage the nature and environment the less, and in short, they are friends of the nature which is a step toward the objectives of green buildings.<\div>
