۱A new criterion for drillpipe multiaxial fatigue damage

A fatigue damage model is developed. The effects of stress state and mean stress are considered in the new model. The model does not require a cycle counting method. The model is evaluated by using the multiaxial fatigue data. The results indicate that the model can satisfactorily correlate the experimental results for a wide range of materials and loading conditions. Moreover, the developed criterion can be used to predict the drillpipe life<\div>

۲Prevention of Transition to Overbalanced Conditions in Underbalanced Drilling Operations

Underbalanced drilling (UBD) is a technique that brings various benefits such as reduced formation damage, reduced lost circulation, etc, when drilling a well. However, it is needed to maintain underbalanced condition from the beginning to the end of the drilling operation to guarantee the success of jointed–pipe UBD process. This causes formation damage and potential hazardous drilling problems such as lost circulation and differential sticking to be reduced.In this paper, various techniques for maintaining continuous underbalanced conditions are given. By employing these techniques, in addition to reduction of drilling problems, well productivity is increased.<\div>

۳Multiple inspection: A novel method in nondestructive evaluation

Nowadays, in industrial world, time reduction and accuracy increments are high important issues. Development of innovative technologies provided conditions to ensure performance of industrial components in more accurate results and also shorter time. Ultrasonic phased array system has a great influence on nondestructive evaluation of materials. This work presents a finite element simulation of a novel method based on a high ability of ultrasonic phased array system to reduce time of inspection and show more comprehensive information. Phased array capability for angle variations of wavefront when gathering with powerful Rayleigh wave generation provides multiple nondestructive testing inspection technique. Multiple inspection is a new method in order to inspect the surface and also internal bulk of work piece simultaneously.<\div>

۴Analyzing Crack Behavior, KIC and JIC in an API X70 Pipeline Steel, Experimentally, Theoretically and Numerically

An API X70 pipeline steel has been investigated with respect to crack propagation and fracture mechanism. A FEM approach has been applied to simulate the onset of crack propagation. The API X70 pipeline steel have been simulated. Herein, for an API X70 pipeline steel, SENT standard sample in different loads (520–810(MPa)) is simulated and then the results are verified by the experimental results. Additionally, in each simulation plastic zone shape of crack propagation is shown and the results are compared with the theoretical results. Stress diffusion through all parts of simulated samples is shown. All results are extracted in 4(°C) temperature. There is a good agreement between experimental, theoretical and numerical results. According to these verifications, presented FEM simulation is reliable to predict crack behavior and calculating KIC and JIC of an API X70 pipeline steel in other kind of loading or crack propagation.<\div>

۶Decreasing Crack Propagation of ASTM A53 Steel by Using Epoxy Composites by XFEM Simulation and Paris Law

In this paper controlling and decreasing of fatigue crack propagation in an ASTM A53 grade B has been considered by XFEM simulation and using Paris law. The plate has been simulated asymmetrically. By using XFEM simulation, the shape of crack propagation and the value of crack propagation after and before using three epoxy composites (Glass epoxy, Born epoxy, Grafi Epoxy) has been calculated and the effect of each epoxy composite on the crack propagation has been investigated. The XFEM simulation results are compared with the obtained results of Paris law theory formula. Finally the performance of different epoxy composites and their difference with the result of Paris law are presented.<\div>

۸Investigate of Different Parameters Effect on Stick–slip and Bit–bounce Interaction in Oil–well Drillstrings

Investigation of vibration in drill string is very important issue, like the other rotary machineries. Vibration is one of the effective factors on life and also performance of drillstring. The axial and torsional vibrations are common vibrations that can be noted. The major source of axial vibration caused by bit contact with bottom of well. The effect of that vibration is occurred by bit bouncing and stick–slip is the major source of torsional vibration. In this study, dynamic behavior and physical model of drill string in contact with the rock are intended. And also the parameters that have important vibrational behavior, such as rotational velocity of drill string and weight on bit, and those effects on axial and torsional vibrations are investigated. In this evaluation, the equations were obtained using Lumped Parameter Model and also the equations were solved using MATLAB software. The results show that increasing the velocity of drill string and decreasing weight on bit can be canceled torsional vibrations. Axial vibration may be removed, by avoiding critical velocity<\div>
