The present research aimed at examining the relation between emotional intelligence and its components among employed and unemployed students of Islamic Azad University, Ramhormoz branch. The sample comprised of 134 students (67 females and 67 males) who were selected through stratified random sampling. The research instruments included the Bar–On Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ–i) and the students’ educational performance scores (overall average). The study was a correlationresearch, in which Pearson correlation coefficients were used in order to analyze the data. The results showed that there was a significant relation between the unemployed students’ emotional intelligence and educational performance at the significance level of α=0.05, while there was no significant relation between employed students’ emotional intelligence and educational performance at the significance level of α=0.05<\div>
