Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are alternative techniques of destruction of dyes and many other organics in wastewater and effluents. AOPs are based on the generation of very reactive species such as hydroxyl radicals that quickly and nonselective, oxidizes a broad range of organic pollutants. Homogenous advanced oxidation process employing hydrogen peroxide and other oxidant like 2– S2O8 with UV light has been found to be very effective in the degradation of dyes. This process involves the production of hydroxyl radicals (.OH) that are extremely reactive and strong oxidizing agent (E0 =2.8 V) capable of mineralizing organic contaminants, In this process handling of the hydrogen peroxide is difficult and dangerous, in the other hand it is expensive( The best marketing of hydrogen peroxide have 30 percentage purity). Peroxydisulfate ( 2–S2O8 ) is a strong oxidant (E0 = 2.05V) which has been used widely in the petroleum industry. The peroxydisulfate is normally available as a salt associated with ammonium, sodium, or potassium. However, since the reactions of peroxydisulfate are generally slow at normal condition, the UV light activated decomposition of ion to radical has been proposed as a method of accelerating the process. In This study the decolorization of C.I. Basic Red 46(BR46) was investigated using UV process in the presence of peroxydisulfate ( 2– S2O8 ) in a UV reactor at different condition. Removal efficiency of BR46 was sensitive to the operational parameters such as initial concentrations of, BR46 and UV. Also the effect of Ag+, TiO2, Fe2+ as catalysts studied on the decolorization process.<\div>

The photooxidative decolorization of C. I. Basic Yellow 2 (BY2), was investigated using UV radiation in the presence of peroxydisulfate ( 2– S2O8 ) in a rectangular photoreactor at experimental condition. 2– S2O8 and UV–light showed negligible effect when they were used independently. Removal efficiency of BY2 was sensitive to the operational parameters such as initial concentrations of 2– S2O8 , BY2, light intensity, flow rate and pH. Our results showed that light intensity was a beneficial parameter for dye removal.<\div>
