In this study the effects of microwave sintering on tribological properties of Cu70Ni30(5 wt.% Al2O3) nanocomposites were evaluated. The elemental powders of Cu and Ni and Al2O3 nanopowder were mixed in a high–energy ball mill for 30 h under Ar atmosphere. The XRD patterns indicated that Cu70Ni30 solid solution alloy was formed during mechanical alloying process. Mechanically alloyed powders were pressed into green compacts at 350 MPa. The green compacts were sintered in microwave furnaces (2.45 GHz) for 30 and 60 min at 600 and 900 W radiation powers. The microstructural analysis of the cross section of the sintered nanocomposites was made using scanning electron microscopy. The sintered nanocomposites show dense microstructure without any radial cracks. Tribological properties of sintered samples were evaluated by ball–on–disk wear test. The wear rate of the nanocomposite sintered at 900 W for 60 min was compared to nanocomposite sintered at 600 W for 60 min and results indicate that increasing the microwave power decreased the wear rate about 30%.<\div>
