In this paper, with introducing the nondimensional parameters, an analytical model has been developed to study the stress transfer in single–walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) reinforced polymer composites. Based on the fiber pullout modeling technique, the effects of volume fraction, waviness, wavelength and matrix modulus on axial and interfacial shear stresses have been analyzed in details. The results of the present analytical model are in good agreements when compared with the corresponding results for straight NTs.<\div>

۲Effect of Fiber Volume Fraction on Residual Thermal Stresses Generated Due to Curing Process of Fiber–reinforced Composites

This paper aims to investigate the residual thermal stresses in fiber–reinforced composites that are generated because of the manufacturing process. A new micromechanical finite element (FE) model based on a representative volume element (RVE) is presented containing the fiber, matrix and an inhomogeneous interphase region between them. Appropriate boundary conditions are introduced and the FE model is verified with the theoretical results available in the literature. Single fiber and extended RVEs with square and hexagonal arrays of fibers are presented and the effects of different fiber and interphase volume fractions on residual thermal stress (radial, circumferential and axial) and also residual radial displacement distributions around the interphase region and also maximum stresses are investigated. Also, the effects geometrical factors, like fiber and interphase volume fraction, are studied and it is shown that these parameters have a major effect on residual stress levels, especially around the interphase region.<\div>

۳Incremental Slitting Determination of Residual Stress in Rolled Aluminium Plate Using Strip Loads and Series Expansion Approaches

In this research, the slitting method was employed to determine through–thickness residual stress profile of a rolled aluminium plate. The method involves measuring strains at the back surface of the stressed specimen, while a narrow slit is cut progressively from the top surface of the specimen. Two computational approaches were used for the determination of residual stresses from measured strains, including series expansion and strip loads methods. Results show excellent correspondence between these two methods and gives strong confidence in the applicability of each computational method.<\div>
