The method based on generalized flexibility matrix has recently been introduced for damage detection to overcome some shortcomings of flexibility matrix based approaches. Using flexibility matrix for identifying damages in structures, researchers face truncation errors ensue from cut off the higher order mode shapes which are difficult to measure in practice. In the present work, a procedure to obtain the location of damage in a beamtype structure is explained. Since flaws and cracks cause changes in the flexibility of a system, these characteristics can be used as a damage indicator parameter. Gaussian wavelet transform as a signal processing method is implemented to find the irregularity in the generalized flexibility matrix which is a sign of damage site. This method does not need to have any prior knowledge about the intact structure. The proposed technique is evaluated by numerical and experimental case studies<\div>
