Probabilistic Seismic Demand Model (PSDM) is a mathematical expression relating the structural demand at the component level to the demand at system level by using an Intensity Measure (IM) parameter. Naturally, the seismic demand is estimated accurately when the most important component, i.e. PSDM, is selected carefully. This selection must be based on several inherent properties such practicality, sufficiency, effectiveness and efficiency. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the accuracy of different PSDM for steel moment–resisting frames by using Bayesian statistics, which is a strong tool to simultaneous modelling of uncertainties and randomness. Generally, the results show that there is no efficient and sufficient PSDM with single IM parameter to cover all structural height and the accuracy of these models is a functionof the number of stories. Since it is not possible to use one combined IM which includes twospectral values because of the difficulties in producing a multiple–parameters seismic hazard curve, it is recommended to use a model with multiple IMs which is believed to be the best model and covers all structural heights, i.e. a model which is the linear combination of spectral accelerations of the first and second periods of vibration<\div>

Steel plate shear wall (SPW) is one of the newest lateral load resisting systems for buildings in seismic area. This system has been used in designing of the steel buildings since last 3 decades. SPW consists of vertical steel plates (web) connected to the surrounding beams (HBE) andcolumns (VBE). Up to now, several methods, such as strip model, have been proposed to predict the behavior of this system. Due to lack of a comprehensive method for complete design processes, this system has not been significantly utilized by engineers. One of the newest techniques which was approved by AISC and mentioned in AISC Steel Design Guide 20, is orthotropic membrane model. This method has some advantages as compared to the stripmodel. This paper discusses about the special type of SPW named special plate shear wall (SPSW) and applies the process of this recent technique for designing building utilizing SPSW in a zone of high seismicity. An orthotropic membrane model is developed by ETABS to correctly distribute forces between the wall members at each story. Tension field angle is calculated after specifying web plates and boundary elements characteristics of SPSW. This angle affects the member forces and web plates shear strength.<\div>
