۱Oxidative desulfurizing of crude oil via power ultrasound and modeling using response surface methodology

The oxidative desulfurization (ODS) technology has been widely recognized as one of the most effective methods for the removal of sulfur from fuel oils, due to the very mild operation conditions it requires. In this work, the oxidation desulfurization of crude oil with ultrasound has been studied. The oxidation was carried out with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide at 35 wt.%, different acids and promoter that were used to investigate the optimum system for sulfur reduction. The effect of oil\water ratio, time, oxidant content and promoter has been investigated with designing experiments and analyzing data in response surface methodology (RSM). The results show that the optimum system is a mixture of trifluoroacetic acid and FeCl3.6H2O2. At this condition, the efficency can reach to 63% at first step.<\div>

۲Introduction of New Cell of Graphite –Mg with HCl –KMnO4 Electrolyte and Analyzing Effective Experimental Factors on the Cell

In this article we are introducing a new cell composed of electrodes of Graphite –Mg and electrolyte of HCl– KMnO4 . Along this topic we are trying to discuss the effect of concentrationchanges of the electrolyte and temperature of the cell as well as surface area effect of each one ofthe electrodes. To estimate the usefulness duration of the cell, all of the reactions have beenkinetically analyzed. After making some changes in the structure of the cell and differing theelectrode type and replacing some metals like Cu and Zn instead of Mg, the produced powers havebeen compared. From the experimental observations and theoretical analyses, it is found out that using other metals instead of Mg decreases the produced power. Finally this kind of cell is compared with fuel cell.<\div>

۳An investigation of the effect of the shear rate in microalgal flocculation by implementation of population balance approach

A population balance model (PBM) has been integrated with CFD to model aggregation of microalgae particles in flocculation systems. The model includes terms to describe the rate of particle–particle collisions that lead to aggregation and breakage. Shear rate is one of the most controversial factors in PBM that highly affects this rate and generally the dynamic behavior of flocculation due to its direct effect on the collision mechanism. Here our case study was to investigate variations of the shear rate and its impact on the flocculation process. The fluid model was turbulent two–phase Eulerian\Eulerian applying the k– turbulence model and the PBM consisted of 40 particle size groups. Ansys CFX 14.5 software package has been successfully applied to couple PBM–CFD numerical investigations. Results showed that increase in shear rate of the system leads to decrease in volume average floc diameter<\div>

Alkylation is a usual method for producing high octane number and environmental friendly gasoline from reaction between isobutane and butenes. From many years ago, researches have begun for invention a solid acid catalyst to replace the corrosive and toxic liquid acid catalysts. In this work, we will have simulated a moving bed reactor for alkylation process which operates with solid catalyst. Kinetics of solid catalyst extracted from a literatures. At first, a suitable model will have created to analyze the conversion in reactor. Then, we will consider a base case according to best industrial schemes. Afterward, effect of change in some main reaction parameters on conversion will have been analyzed by results of solving differential equations simultaneously<\div>

۵SIMU LATION OF PVT EXPERIMENTS USING PC–SAFT EOS: A COMPARISON WITH CUBIC ALTERNATIVES

The Perturbed Chain Statistical Associating Fluid Theory, or PC–SAFT for short, is an innovative equation of state that can grasp the physics of the system more accurately than its cubic alternatives. In this paper, the differential liberation and constant mass expansion data of an Iranian oil sample are used to compare the accuracy of PC–SAFT and volume translated PR and SRK equations of state. Without any tuning of the equations with the experimental data, the simulation results of the three equation of state have been used to compare the EOS’s performance. It was found in this paper that while the cubic equations of state predicted saturation pressure, liquid density, and Y–factor more precisely, the PC–SAFT equation showed promising results in predicting other tests.<\div>
