۱The Effect of Acid Concentration on Nano α–Alumina Particle Size in Sol–Gel Method

Nanocrystalline alumina was synthesized by a simple sol–gel method using aluminum nitrate in acetic acid
mixed aqueous solutions. The alumina gel was then successfully transformed to α–Al2O3 through subsequent
low temperature heat treatment. The obtained gel and powders were characterized by X–ray diffractometry
(XRD), scanning electron microscopy and scanning probe microscopy. The XRD analysis showed that the
alumina was completely transformed to mono–phase, nanocrystalline α–Al2O3 (10.5nm) at 1150°C. The
concentration of acetic acid affects the amount of produced gel and the gelation time.<\div>
