the paper presents the impact of the geometrical features of the thermocouple on the absolute value of temperature in research methodology applied in the investigation of structural transformations in steels within the aforementioned research methodology the test metal sample is subject to simulated welding thermal cycles this examination is accompanied by the measurement of three chracteristic quantities i.e. temperature magnetic permeability and thermal expansion . the heat reflecting the thermal welding cycle is supplied to the test sample by means of heating lamps which in turn determines the size of the sample the issues in question are currently used at the institute of welding in gliwice poland in pure basica research of structural welded elements applied in industry. the aforesaid research sonsists incomplex investigation of structural transformation in steel with simultaneous use of the three aforementioned measuring methods.<\div>
