pollution of water resources on earth has caused so much attention in the present world scientific communities . Ammonia nitrogen in the form of free ammonia or ammonium cation is one of most hazardous water pollutant discharging into rivers and other water receptors from industrial effluents. negative environmental impacts of such chemical species in hydrosphere include eutrophiction phenomenon water toxicity accelerated irregular algae growth depletion of dissolved oxyhen and finally harming the aquatics. natural zeolite clinoptilolite occurs in high abundances and rich mines of this zeolite exist in central and northeastern and western parts of Iran. it has very high selectivity & capacity for ammonium cation sorption. thus comparing to many synthetic sorbents, clinoptilolite is available more cheaper in Iran with different sizing. the aim of this study is to investigate ammonia nitrogen removal from real samples of high polluted wastewater dischaging from an ammonia and urea production units over iranian natural zeolite. besides , some other parameters important in determining the quality of treated industrial wastewater were also monitored in this research . the experimental results showed that this natural sorbent without even any pre treatment system & with the same particle size available in iranian markets industrially economical has still high capability& selectivity in ammonia nitrogen removal both in batch and continuous tests.<\div>
