15–5 PH is one of the martensitic precipitation hardening alloys which is used in aerospace industries. This material is both stainless steel and heat resistant. In this study, the modeling and the optimization of surface roughness of this material in turning process with the artificial neural network and genetic algorithms were carried out. For this Purpose, 30 tests have been done on the work part which in each test, Machining was done by Carbide Tungsten tools with titanium coating and shear rate, feed ratio and turning depth parameters for each test has been changed. At each stage with TR200 roughness gage, Ra rate was calculated and then with ANN and GA ways the relationship between surfaceroughness and machining parameters were presented. The purpose of this paper is that with designing, testing and also changing the machining parameters, at first, a suitable model found and then the optimization parameters can be determined in order to improve the process. The results of this study show that with ANN and GA ways, the optimizing solutions of machining hard materials can found quickly.<\div>
