Two Marine paints were prepared with the same formulation except one based on tubeworms (AF ) t and the second contains Sepia shell (AFs). The two paints together with their blank (B) were applied on unprimed steel panel and immersed in seawater. After 21 days of immersion the microbial examinations showed maximum inhibition of 43%, 25% and 64% for heterotrophic bacteria, actinomycetes and the sulfate reducing bacteria, respectively, on using Sepia shell based paint (AFs) surfaces compared to the blank coated steel surfaces. Also, the biological investigation showed after 70 days of immersion (AFS) surface was free from diatoms, primary stages of macroalgae and the polychaete larvae while primary stages of macroalgae were formed on the blank coated panels.
۲Electrochemical Determination of Antibacterial Drug Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride Using Chloranil Modified Carbon Paste Electrode

A highly sensitive electroanalytical method for the determination of moxifloxacin hydrochloride using differential pulse voltammetry was described. The electrochemical behavior of the used drug was investigated in Britton–Robinson buffer in the pH range of 2.0 to 11.0 at chloranil modified carbon paste electrode. The anodic peak currents increased linearly with the concentration in the range of 4.0×10–7 to 3.6×10–6 mol L–1. The limits of detection and quantification were 6.74×10–8 mol L–1 and 2.25×10–7 mol L–1, respectively. The relative standard deviation was found in the following range: 0.569–0.974%. The percentage recovery was found in the following range: 99.28–100.60%. The method was successfully applied to the determination of moxifloxacin hydrochloride in tablets without previous separation.
۳Adsorptive Stripping Voltammetric Behavior and Determination of Zolmitriptan Using Differential Pulse and Square Wave Voltammetry

The oxidative behaviour of zolmitriptan was studied at a glassy carbon electrode in Britton–Robinson (BR) buffer solutions using cyclic, differential pulse and square wave voltammetric techniques. The oxidation process was shown to be irreversible over the pH range (2.0–6.0) and was diffusion controlled with some adsorption character. The analytical method was developed for the determination of zolmitriptan in BR buffer solution at pH 2.0 as supporting electrolyte. The anodic peak current varied linearly with zolmitriptan concentration in the following ranges: 4.0×10–8 to 3.2×10–7 M and 4.0×10–10 to 3.2 10–9 M of zolmitriptan with limits of detection of 2.0×10–8 M and 2.0×10–10 M by differential pulse and square wave methods, respectively. Validation parameters, such as sensitivity, accuracy, precision and recovery were evaluated. The proposed method was applied to the determination of zolmitriptan in the tablet dosage form. The results were compared with those obtained by the reported methods showing higher sensitivity of our proposed method.
