۱Ensuring the Integrity of Critical Pipe‐to‐Cathodic

Achieving cathodic protection (CP) on buried or immersed pipelines requires the connection of copper conductors to carbon steel. Connections are needed both for the primary current drain cables; and for the various test leads and bonds that enable the CP system to be monitored and managed. These connections are all too often made in less than ideal conditions (in the field or offshore), and with the urgency needed to keep pace with the pipeline installation schedule. Moreover, once made, they will be permanently out of sight; yet must remain intact throughout the entire life of the pipeline. This paper recaps the history of the available cable connection techniques in common use: thermite welding pin brazing and conducting adhesives; and compares their relative merits. The comparison assesses their practicability, including health and safety, cost and the reliability of the resulting connections. In addition, the effects of the thermal processes on the metallurgical condition of the pipe wall are reviewed in the light of micro‐hardness measurements. The metallurgical implications of using thermal connection techniques on high strength (>700 MPa) thin walled lines, of the type currently under review for future projects, are considered.<\div>

۲A New Recommender System based on Cooperative Co–evolution Algorithm

Expansion of global networks and storing the extensive amount of information in various websites, create a serious needs for filtering the irrelevant information in a personalized way. Collaborative filtering or recommender system is a filtering technique that allows incorporation of the profiles which can be implicitly learned from previous activities [1]. We have proposed the CoCo–CF[1] as an effective method suitable for collaborating filtering running in a Jini–grid computing[2] platform and operational in a distributed environment. The CoCo–CF generates representative records from stored preferences and seeks for the answer with the best fitness in the recommender system. We have considered the user satisfaction rate, feasibility of available results, user familiarity and average response time as the evaluation factors. Also we have focused on mean absolute deviation, mean square error and ranked evaluation as the performance evaluation parameters. The obtained results confirm that the CoCo–CF is a successful method for collaborative filtering.

۳A Dynamic Resource Allocation Method for Virtual Data Center Resources Using CoCo–VM Approach

A dynamic resource allocation method for virtual resources in virtualized data centers has been proposed in this paper. Since resource allocation with constraint in virtual environment is NP–hard, the solution has been focused on approximate methods based on immune system mechanism using agent based model and Cooperative Coevolutionary Algorithm (CoCo–VM) that appears to perform well in finding a plausible answer [1]. The novelty of our approach lies in integrating an agent based greedy algorithm based on immune system functionality together with the cooperative co–evolutionary concept as an intelligent solution for virtual resource allocation in a large scale and distributed virtualized datacenters. Here, some mathematical analyses have been done to identify the parameters essential to assign a suggested allocation approach. Results of different evaluations in pure immune system (PIS)0F 1 and CoCo–VM methods demonstrate that, for the scenarios under consideration, the proposed resource allocation approach can significantly reduce resource consumption, increase number of successful services, and achieve higher performance.
